Investor Immigration (Permanent Residence)

The Immigrant Investor Program was created by the Government of Canada to offer qualified businesspeople from around the world a simple way to immigrate to Canada by contributing to the development of its strong and prosperous economy.

There are two (2) different Immigrant Investor Programs available: once administered by the federal government and the other by the provincial government of Québec.

The eligibility criteria and the process are simple, and because the Immigrant Investor Program is structured and guaranteed by the government, your investment is fully secured and risk-free. The required investment will be reimbursed by the government in full, at maturity.

Under this program, you and your family will obtain an unconditional Canadian visa and landed immigrant status immediately upon arrival.

Who Can Apply?
  1. You must have worldwide net assets of at least $800,000 (CAD);
  2. You must have managerial experience;
  3. You must commit to making a 100% guaranteed passive investment of $400,000 (CAD) for a five-year (5-year) term (or significantly reduce your payment through a financial institution)
$800,000 Net Worth
You must satisfy an immigration officer that the fair market value of all your assets and the assets of your spouse or common-law partner were obtained legally. Your assets must exceed the fair market value of all your liabilities and the liabilities of your spouse or common-law partner by at least $800,000.

Managerial Experience
You must have either managed a qualifying business and controlled a percentage of equity of the business for at least two (2) years in the period beginning five (5) years before the date of application, or managed the equivalent of at least five full-time employees per year in a business for at least two years in the period beginning five years before the date of application or a combination of one (1) year of experience in the first point and one (1) year of experience as stated in the second point above.

$400,000 Investment
Investors must sign an agreement which commits him/her to making a 100% guaranteed passive investment of $400,000 CAD through a financial institution. If you wish to make a fraction of this payment only, you may do so by using a financial institution who with invest the difference and help you watch it grow!

The Golden Plan
This plan qualifies the Investor to receive a pre-approved loan in order to meet the $400,000 investment requirements more easily and limits the Investor’s down payment. Therefore, the remaining portion of funds can be placed in other higher-return investments. At maturity, the Government fully reimburses the investment, which serves to cover the principal and interest of the loan. Actual down payment required = $120,000 CAD.

Sufficient Funds to Settle in Canada
Like any other immigration program, foreign nationals will need to show that they have enough money to support themselves and their dependants after they arrive in Canada.

Processing times for Investor Class Applications vary between 1 year and 3 years, depending on the country where you are applying.
